In 1990 Joseph and his colleagues founded VitalSmarts, a world-leader in the study and practice of human change. His research into what helps and hinders people’s ability to achieve valued results has resulted in three New York Times bestselling books—Crucial Conversations: Tools for Talking When Stakes are High; Crucial Confrontations: Tools for Resolving Broken Promises, Violated Expectations and Bad Behaviors; and most recently, Influencer: The Power to Change Anything.
More recently Joseph and a small group of successful businesspeople founded Unitus, a Seattle-based nonprofit focused on influencing dramatic acceleration of access to microfinance services to the poor worldwide. By 2009 Unitus’ efforts had contributed to the extension of these empowering services to over seven million clients in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Their goal is to serve fifteen million families by 2015. Grenny currently serves as chairman and cofounder of Unitus. |
